Well shit, I feel even older now... high school...

I have friends who got married at the summer camp where they met (as counselors). It was very chill and laid back. Canoeing, drinks and guests stayed at the camp.

I had this open and meant to reply almost this exactly. Rural healthcare is complicated regardless of the system through which it is provided. The rural retention and cost-to-operate issue is a cross-Canada and cross-Everywhere-that-has-rural-anything problem. Which doesn’t mean it isn’t exacerbated by poor policies

I feel like there’s something wrong with me because my first thought while reading was “only 2 acres?”

The authors of the study were interviewed (along with John Urshel) in a recent episode of Freakonomics. They talk at length about the limitations of their study - it’s all over their actual paper. Certainly weren’t trying to hide it. It’s a really interesting episode if anyone is interested: “How Much Brain Damage Do

It was just so nice to be with people who also knew nothing about makeup but wanted to know about makeup and weren’t judgy. Millihelen commentariat FTW.

Millihelen was the only site on which I was ungreyed... I miss Millihelen

Close in that they were both half animal, but a Siren should be half-bird. But popularly they’ve morphed into half-fish because of their association with the sea. IIRC - am far far out of my undergraduate classics degree...

We’re actually pretty good at shaming people who aren’t Canadian and actually notorious poor at shaming ourselves. We should really self-shame more - there’s a lot going on that’s “right” up here but a lot that’s wrong. Wuh wuhhhh... :(
That said - overall we are definitely in disbelief of what’s happening to the

I just couldn’t do it. Hats of to you! I think there are absolutely amazing things happening in the public library systems and my colleagues generally love the work they do, but people can really spoil it. I spent some time as an an academic librarian and our libraries were open to the public - we saw our fair share

Librarian here. Not a public librarian by any means (I’m just not that good natured!) but I have many colleagues in the public library system and this is true. So very true. That said - a lot of rural libraries are equally as bonkers.

Yup. Port wine stain. It’s visible in most of the other photos of her where her legs are exposed. My toddler has one on the back of her neck. It’s so nice to see what she has to look forward to when people start commenting when she’s older... *sigh*

Oh the Raabids games on the Wii were quite popular. You’re definitely thinking of the right title there. I have both of them, they are honestly great party games - nothing to learn with corny scenarios and some suggestive hand motions. They are particularly fun with a good group and some beer/wine. I can see them

This. Because you also rest your burger and then you don’t get extra soggy buns due to excessive run off juice. Never put your freshly cooked burger right onto a bun...

Orca!? Fancy... Ravenclaw with an Otter here.

Yes I noticed that and corrected myself later.

Definitely important points. I rarely comment as well (I’m pretty sure I mostly come out of lurking just for Canadian articles, haha) but was looking to post this and was glad someone did.

Ah right, not prison. Regardless, he is fully out now - just looking it up because I was curious. Model patient - responding very very well and continuing treatment.

This. On both points.

It was 9-10 years ago I believe. The man who beheaded the victim was actually recently released from prison. It was a pretty big-ish deal in the news. He was not being treated for his schizophrenia when it happened and IIRC was not held criminally responsible. I think most people had some trepidation about buses when
