It’s this potential leap forward in battery technology that’s keeping me from jumping into the EV fray right now.  If it’s 10 years off, I’d probably just go for a new EV.  But if it’s 2 - 5, then I think I’m more inclined to buy a used ICE car and wait for the technological jump.

Sounds like an excuse to me.

What kind of lame-ass billionaire has to ‘rent’ their mega-yacht. I can only imagine that all the other billionaires mocked him mercilessly - as they should have. We can’t have that kind of slumming in Monaco.

Yep. Sure. I believe that he “mis-poke”.  I’m sure the drones will make sure he never ‘mis-speaks’ again.

I very much want one of these, and the lack of pricing information has enabled me to believe I might be able to afford one.  once that info comes out - that fantasy goes out the window, I’m sure.

Yep - entirely agree. I’m fortunate enough to live in Canada and work for the government. We get a full year of paid ‘leave’ - can be taken as any combination of paternity and maternity leave - save for mandatory leave for the mother right after birth.

We’re set up well for an EV - have a house with a garage, living in a city with plentiful recharge stations and short travel distances. For me, though the issues are basically these:

Did I say there was?

I was just thinking about this on the way home.  EVs should be able to run AC and other temperature control devices off the large battery.  As well as various monitoring equipment (for movement, weight, etc.).  ICE cars can’t do all that for any length of time with just the starter battery.

Found the drone trying to convince us everything is alright, and this story couldn’t possibly be true.

I didn’t know about that - and I probably should have, given that we have a 3 year old. Honestly, it should probably be standard - because yeah, I can totally see how parents would simply say “that’s something some other parent would do, not me - so I’m going to save an extra $500".

What if it was only sending you alerts if the car was parked, you weren’t in it, and there was a baby-weighted object strapped into the car seat?

These kinds of stories always hit so hard. Kids and animals suffering needlessly is heartbreaking to a whole different level. They’re innocent, and completely unable to fend for themselves. They don’t even necessarily know what’s happening to them. They’re relying on you - the parent or owner to look after them.

I think a lot of it might be kids falling asleep and parents - not hearing them move - forgetting they’re there.

I had a chance to catch the America’s Cup race in San Francisco back in 2013, live and from the water. Absolutely incredible - just the size, the shape, the speed of the vessels - how they rise up out of the water and can turn incredibly quickly.

It’s amazing how many more Mustangs are out there in the world than Miatæ. Is that just? Is this a kind world we’ve wrought?

Came here to suggest this exact thing. We’re clearly not talking about ‘best’ in any objective sense. Then it’d just be the most recent. So ‘best’ in this case means something else - and choosing the one that started it all seems like the right answer. Revolutionary styling and with a 289 - and a HiPo, ‘k-code’ option

Came here to say this.  But yeah, I was just on the mainland, and I think I saw at least a half-dozen.  So, no, they aren’t like Tesla 3s or anything - but I’ve stopped doing a double take when I see them.

I’m sorry. But are you attempting to suggest that there’s more to Ontario than Toronto, “Cottage Country”, and (maybe) Ottawa? There are many Torontonians who’d like a word with you, if so.

Little older than that at 40. My dream car was the DB7 / XK8 back in the late 90s. But that’s close enough to the 2008 DBS that I was caught up in the DBS as the obvious aesthetic and performance evolution of what I viewed as nearly the perfect cars - Ian Callum / Fergus Pollock penned British 2+2 GTs.  That the DBS
