try downloading an app that simulates it with your phone's camera. It by nature won't be perfect, but it should give an idea

there are camera apps that simulate it. It's not perfect, but it's close enough to give the idea in most cases. That's what I use when people ask me questions about it

I once created an encryption system for the stat storage of a game I modded that i always knew would be easy for a human to break, but a royal pain for a computer trying to guess. A simplified version of it can be done mentally... Maybe I should just switch to using that to get passwords...
