I believe it. I just upgraded from a 2007 Mazda 3 to the 2018 model. The latter has an infotainment system, whereas the former was actually designed to keep your eyes on the road — the radio controls were on the steering wheel and you were able to kind of feel your way around the other cockpit controls by touch

They have done some pretty good studies on distracted driving that said it was pretty neutral to source of distraction. That is, you can be just as distracted by a conversation with a person in the car, eating food, changing dash controls, deep internal monologues, as you would be to handheld technology.
