I believe you misspelled Years.

Sounds like the real takeaway from this is that even fed on a diet of lead-footed weekend warriors these things are rock solid. The only concern to me is the replaced transmission, but reading between the lines it seems that may have been done proactively in order to make it a viable purchase for the next owner.

This is cool, but it’s a bit like that RCR video where the guy lifts his Outback and acts like he’s keeping up with stock XJs off road because he’s a bit taller than stock and removed his bumper. Breaks the thing trying to get over a pretty minor obstacle. I guess it depends on how you define “trolling”.

I think lifted smarts have been done before.. And I dare say a lifted smart would actually be kinda fun offroad.

A prius that cooks brisket on the trail would be awesome.

This is pretty awesome, but a couple comments:

I can just see the “for sale” Ad after it’s gone through the auction block to a dealer:

What about a Smart fortwo?

“What could I bring that’s more contemptible than a Prius?”

$150,000 no low balls I know what I got.

Amazing what a little “preventative maintenance” can do for reliability. For instance, I replaced the axle shafts, sway bars, springs, and bushings in the rear all before they failed, so I guess mine’s been super reliable too. Of course it also has 125k miles...

One of these is a cheat. The other is a loophole.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

Loopholes: Awesome.

Cheats: Deserve to get you banned from the sport and make you a total disgrace to the sport.

Way too much cheating occurs in motorsports... but taking advantage of loopholes should be what the sport is all about.

Gordan Murray is a scam

Honestly this is half the fun of F1, seeing how creative the Engineers can be designing cars that are “technically” legal.

Eh. The whole cheating narrative around this is pointless because objectively this is 100% not a cheat. This is completely legal, intended or not.

I know I’m probably responding too seriously to a joke anyway, but truly trying would be pushing the rules to their logical extreme with the safeguard that you aren’t

It really needs a “this is not a step” sticker on it.

I think that might be a cable brake system... Kind of like hydraulic surge brakes, but with an extra handle that lets you use it as a parking brake.

I can’t watch the video but it sure does look like a 2-leaf leaf spring with some air ride bags on top of the spring perch, possibly doing double duty as a shock absorber. Looks like a fairly simple setup.

Except, you need collegiate level driving skills to truly master it.

The Fiat wheels are a mod that are done that allow kids as young as 15 drive on public roads. It makes no sense to me. I think it’s similar to a french sans-permit

I believe they figured that you'd save almost a second of lap time with a CVT. Why? First, those .050s shifts add up. Second you are ALWAYS in the correct gear to give the most available power at all times. Even with 7 or 8 speeds, you still wind up not being at 100% power at all times, something a CVT will do.
