Would “Streets of Fire” count as a rock musical? Probably not, but it IS stylish and pretty batshit.

I love whenever anyone posts something positive about this movie, I love it so much. Does it have problems? Sure. But I feel like the flow, aesthetics, and oddly romantic mood of the whole thing overcome whatever acting/pacing issues it totally has.

Fire, Inc., the band credited with performing Steinman’s songs, was apparently not just an ad-hoc group of session players, but rather the short-lived new wave band Face to Face (fronted by Laurie Sargeant), with Holly Sherwood providing harmonies and taking over lead vocals for Tonight is What it Means to Be Young.

Did I just miss it? No discussion of Streets of Fire is complete without mentioning the fight with giant hammers between Raven and Cody.
