I’ll bet that’s the case over here (Australia) as well - I’ll have to pay a visit to my nearest Chinese barbecue shop and check it out. And then ask my mum why the heck we never ate barbecued cuttlefish.

Well, that is very strange: I’m (half-)Chinese, my family’s from Hong Kong, I’ve been to (and briefly lived in) Hong Kong, and I eat most of the stuff mentioned above on a semi-regular basis. But as far as I know, I’ve never seen or heard of roast cuttlefish! Not that I’m denying Kevin’s expertise (and Google confirms

That’s basically right - true of barbecued lamb as well, come to that. (None of which means that Han Chinese never eat barbecue beef or lamb, or course.)

If you believe Huffpost, it’s been around since 2004, though it’s only achieved mainstream(-ish) popularity in the last two or three years.

Seconding KateH - the KinjaImprove extension goes a long way towards making these comments readable again.
