I learned this weekend that everything is better running on R-compound tires. Especially hybrids. Especially when they’re passing Subaru STi’s in the canyons.
If a BRZ doesn’t have enough power, move somewhere with very technical roads and you’ll find they’re the great equalizer between 130hp and 310.
The CRZ has to be run at 10/10ths on a twisty mountain pass to really be appreciated. It’s in that situation that it’s light curb weight, chassis dynamics and tail happiness can really be appreciated and blow the doors off of much more powerful and heavier cars.
Southern California checking in here. The young enthusiast scene is alive and well. Check out these pics from the Japanese cruise in at the Peterson museum held in conjunction with SuperStreet. Not only was the entire 600 car parking structure taken over, but cars were parking on the shut down streets around it.
And it’s the zenki blistered fender version, so it’s not a GA70 Supra (with the 1G) either.
Only the MkII. Anything powered by a 7M motor is never “ran when parked.”
I have an AE86. I’ve bought tofu.
The 86 twins still outsold the Miata in the US last year by 2,133 units, and they are still hitting Akio Toyoda’s sales goals for what’s considered to be a dedicated niche market car. I don’t know what people are expecting the 86 to be?
I was super bummed out when I found out every version of my car (Honda CR-Z) except the trim level I got, had voice activated climate control.
I knew a couple of old guys who had been designers at Chrysler during the musclecar era. According to them “statutory grape” was the original name proposed for Plum Crazy, but they couldn’t get it past the legal department.
