I haven't seen Toni Erdmann yet— it still hasn't come to my city— but Elle not even making the shortlist is a joke. I get that it's a powerfully uncomfortable movie that I almost don't like to talk about, but damn is it an achievement. Watching it in the theater, I never wanted it to end.
