That’s another story. The 10 years old tyres are of course bad. Nevertheless, adding the cost of a proper maintenance and a set of fresh tyres (and maybe race-ready rollcages, etc) will still be much easier on your wallet compared to buying or leasing a brand new ND.
I believe his point is about cost vs benefits.. Yeah, we all are familiar with diminishing returns in things like these, but the savings from buying an old NA compared to buying a brand new ND is definitely worth a second look, at least.
Except that in HD’s case, they’re too stubborn to the point of “keeping 30% of the vibrations due to popular demand” (for the vibrations) for the Milwaukee Eight, despite the engine itself is a product of 21st century, and a very good one from mechanical standpoint.
Also, the tendency of the owners to utterly disregard proper maintenance for their vehicles.
I’d rather have lower rev ceiling point than having a destroyed engine due to a solenoid failure (may not ND the operating temp and the revs it will operate in) or computer error.
