Sometimes I wonder why certain manufacturers are adamant on using pushrods. I mean, there are many SOHC engines with 4 valves per cylinder. I believe the overall packaging is still compact enough, and maintenance is still relatively easy.

You know, there are a lot of SOHC engines with 4 valves for that sole purpose (more surface area), in a relatively compact packaging (compared to DOHC).
