Not quite. My old 1.6 GHz Core2Duo (!) from year 2006 still works fine for its purpose (office works and media playing), and topping the RAM off to 3gb (the maximum allowed by Intel 945 chipset) plus changing the HDD to SSD works wonders. Especially the boot time. It was mind-blowing.
