Do you honestly think this is a relevant thing to talk about on this thread? The most important you have to make about this amazing woman who recently passed away is that, even though she was horribly disrespected in her obituary, she probably could have helped being fat?

If my obituary starts with "Flat-chested and certainly shaped like a 12-year-old boy..." I'm gonna haunt the fuck out of the author.

I actually lead with that as my introduction to all people I meet, as they are my most important attributes. It doesn't matter what the social situation. "Hi, I'm plain in feature and certainly overweight. Can I get two bean burritos and a cool ranch Doritos locos taco? Thanks."

You read that sentence and you stop and wonder what people think when they first meet you. Does everyone I meet assume I can't be charming and witty and warm? Does the whole world jump to the conclusion I'm some bridge-dwelling troll who can't carry a conversation?

Being pretty and thin IS the accomplishment!

I know! It's like...somehow an unfuckable woman did something important. Weird.

That obituary was a disgrace, and got the thrashing it deserved on Twitter and in other media (The Australian is a Murdoch paper) yesterday. My fav response with this article imagining the obits of male writers if they were subjected to the same treatment as women.

Fuck anyone who complains about this gif being overused.

a true classic never goes out of style

I can't lie: I checked out as soon as I hit the word "cuddle" in the first bullet point. "Cuddle" is the "moist" of relationship words. *cringes*

fuck yeah coloring!!

Um. Does anyone else watch Blackish? The mother on that show literally suggested this exact thing on the Christmas episode and I've been talking about what a fucking amazing idea it is ever since. Could that possibly be a coincidence?! I'm honestly spazzing about this right now...

Holy shit, I am DYING

You shut your damn mouth about coconut cake right now. It is AMAZING*

It has nothing to do with being more skeptical. It has to do with doing their due diligence. If they decided they believed her and were going to put the weight of their publication's reputation behind her allegations, they had a responsibility to both her and themselves to properly investigate the story to make sure

You're a horrible runner.

What it all boils down to, in my opinion, will always go back to "rape rape".

I have known one of the women interviewed for the RS article since she was in second grade. After being traumatized with the assault, her roommate told her it was no big deal and she should let it go. The problem isn't just this university's handling of these cases, but the attitudes of fellow students and the general
