Just because a woman finds empowerment and sexual liberation through openly rejecting female sexual modesty does not mean she's not a smart girl, anymore than dressing conservatively automatically means being smart, self-respecting, and progressive.

PREACH, GRRRL.
1) These aren’t original thoughts or particularly useful ones. 2) Your girlfriend is not a placeholder for “all women” and does not reflect the views of all women. Thanks for playing.
I know it’s not as impactful as Beyonce’s VMA performance but I thought Christina Aguilera releasing this single was fairly significant as it’s directly about double standards.
It's a good question. I'm calling this (among myself and my friends) the 4th wave - I hope it's a new phase of feminism that will be intersectional. I hope this new brand of feminism will include trans women and women of color - who largely haven't been included in past waves. I don't know what their agenda is but…
It’s interesting how so many commenters are fake-feminist-girling Ariana Grande over this since she isn’t meeting their stringent standards in dressing like they’d dress, having a known-to-them history of feminist behavior, and is also failing to look or “act” her age.
Too long and wrong.........
I feel like you might hang out with the wrong men.
My years-long male heterosexual friends are taking their sweeeeet time signaling to me that they want my married self to jump on their dick.
Why do jezzies hate her? Did i miss something? Love her music and her whole schtick.
rolling my eyes
Uh this gender stertoryping is wrong in both cases.
But she is a young girl, and everyone still sees her as a teenager rather than a 21 year old adult woman. It’s so easy to see her as stupid because teenager girl ha hahahahaha so stupid.
Yes! I discovered I was a feminist in 2005 when I was 14 and no one around me would listen to the idea of what feminism was. I craved public figures coming out as feminists but none of them (that I know of) did. I’m so happy for the 14 year old girls now who see this and aren’t afraid or “weirded out” to call…
Yeah, it’s a huge change from even 10 years ago. Can you imagine teenage Britney Spears quoting Gloria Steinem or Christina Aguilera doing a VMA performance with the word “feminist” in huge glowing letters behind her? I don’t care if it’s shallow or corporate—it’s important and I think it’s going to continue.
yo. i give you a solid 7.9/10 for this trolling cuz you wrote your damn dissertation. damn son. you fucking went for it.
I’m really loving this recent surge of female “teen pop” artists saying they're feminists. This is such a good influence on young women.
its wrong to degrade her with the snarky term ‘newly minted feminist’ when it seems that her whole family is pro-femme and has most likely, grown up with these ideals...
