Hybrids are a messy and expensive middle tech. There is a known endpoint, so why would they waste time and money developing something that they know has a limited production lifespan. Looks great. It is amazing when someone at Marvel knows how to properly use lighting, a camera and lenses, coupled with actors and a good script, a good product can result.

The directions was not the issue with the show. There was some wonderful staged and executed scenes. The show had some impressive camerwork as well, someone remembered that cinematography is a thing, which is rare for Marvel. Marvel had a real opportunity here to break out of their box and lean into the obvious mystery/paranoia of a spy thriller. A chance to elevate themselves and the material above the normal. They ditched that and went back to the same tired well.
