For the people who decided they did not like “Beau is Afraid” without seeing it, I can tell you this from experience: seeing it will not make you like it more.
The problem with Spacey is that he’s a great actor. If he was merely mediocre then there wouldn’t be this horrible ambivalence about his work.
I know she wasn’t No. 1 on the call sheet, but my first thought was that girl who played PT Barnum’s ~10-year-old daughter in The Greatest Showman. You could tell instantly that she’s an egomaniacal monster.

I tend to like Billy Joel. But honestly, I find the idea that he’s above criticism tougher to make sense of than people not liking a random artist from 40-50 years ago losing popularity.
This looks like my golden opportunity to ask something I’ve been wondering about for years: Why does a very substantial portion of the pop culture commentariat have such a virulent hatred of him?
I’ll give you that. LTZ is one of those ‘great but I never want to see it again’ movies.
