You. Yes, you.

Maybe no one will “engage” you because you, and your invalid criticisms, do not matter. A better use of your time than trying to preemptively win imaginary arguments would be to go “engage” with some trans people and LISTEN TO THEM about why J.K. Rowling’s criticisms are problematic for THEM.

Evidence? You don’t have any evidence. You have a theory that is often used in really questionable, queerphobic ways based on nothing more than a throwaway comment of the kind many transphobes make. You could, theoretically, be correct, but it’s a big leap to make to say something frankly so speculative as to be

I recognize that Steve Jobs was a genius. I also recognize that he was an asshole.

“Power doesn’t corrupt, but reveals”? I’m inclined to agree.

Listen, you patronising cretin. Just because you also happen to buy into her transphobia doesn’t make it a “perfectly valid criticism”. The problem with people like you is that you want to wave the ‘opinion’ card around any time someone tries to call you out on your bullshit. Sometimes it isn’t an opinion: sometimes

“The Notch Effect” as I like to call it.

Here’s the best part: None of you will engage me.

I think if you’re not from the there it’s easy to underestimate just how entrenched TERFism is in the UK and how much more mainstream it is than in the US. I didn’t really get a sense of it until I read a New York times opinion piece on the subject.

Hey man, trans people are dying, but please cry more for video games not being purchased enough. That is the hill to die on, FOR SURE.

Honestly? I think wealth has nothing to do with it. Anyone’s point of view is influenced by their beliefs and experiences, so her money is only one factor. And when your beliefs about something like this are so rooted, usually the only thing that turns them around is experiencing what the other side lives like.  And

Legitimate question: What’s a good alternative to Kotaku that’s not so full of these non video game related stories?

Maybe don’t take projects from known bigots.  You are who you get in bed with.

Yeah, just read about her throwing an open tantrum because Stephen King said that trans women are women.

You lose all perspective.

In case anyone here was still under the impression that JK Rowling isn’t a transphobe, she recently unfollowed Stephen King and deleted her tweets supporting him after he came out saying trans women are women.

She gives enough shit to constantly recant her stories. She gives enough shit to make comments on Twitter. My point being she does give a shit because her actions says she does.

I understand Harry Potter has basically printed money but JKR isn’t the best author nor the best person. Hopefully some attention can get refocused to better art made by better people.

The "K" in JK Rowling stands for Karen now.

Yeah, the game seems to be right up my alley, and the magical school fantasy is something I love, but no way do I want to give Rowling any more money. I’m really sorry for the developers.

It may be too late for this project, but it’s nice to see Rowling’s behavior starting to gain momentum towards blocking her from any future success.
