Well, you could go the fuck away. I bet that would solve the problem for ya double-quick.

white men to blame for everything? just b/c they’ve been in charge ever since the beginning of time? makes no sense to me.
Nah its pretty accurate. He’s made some of a lot of people’s favourite movies, so it’s sad he’s so out of touch and bitter these days, and his status as a film industry underdog makes it even more disappointing.
That would be a full-time job. For several people.
I think you’re forgetting that they embark on this stupid useless casino quest BECAUSE their friends are in danger and the fate of the galaxy rests on it.
But it’s the point of the whole movie.
I thought they were garbage answers. Your mileage apparently varies. ::shrug:: And that’s okay!
The final image of a film is a little boy inspired by the story of Luke Skywalker using the force to hold the broom up like a lightsaber. Luke is dead but his story inspires the next generation to fight for what’s right. Not only does this not say “this doesn’t matter” it is literally the best argument ever made for…
It’s not like they’re the first SW characters to fuck up so monumentally. Han and Leia et al shouldn’t have gone to Cloud City and Luke shouldn’t have abandoned his training to go to their aid.
Still think the problem here is that JJ made the movie he made, then he and Kathleen Kennedy pass the baton to Johnson and by all accounts tell him it’s up to him to figure out what he wants to do with it, what comes next, etc. (And we know setting up stuff without even the vaguest idea of where it’s going is JJ’s MO…
I can honestly say I’m surprised how many people really wanted to hear about Snoke or where he came from.
The movie doesn’t say “This doesn’t matter”. The villains say that. The heroes are tempted by that view, but ultimately go against it.
I’m not sure when John Boyega last saw the original trilogy, but huge stretches of those movies involve the core trio being split up. The amount of time they’re all in the same scene together across those three films doesn’t add up to a whole lot.
I mean, some people clearly needed to hear it.
Phrasing it that way makes it seem like the movie behaved as a didactic scold. It completely answered the questions, and did so through the same adventure storytelling the movies have always done. Some folks may have not liked the answers, but that’s more a product of preconceived ideas than any failure of the movie.
I go the other way. The fact that JJ Abrams has issues with The Last Jedi only confirms my feeling that it’s a masterpiece.
I loved the subversion of The Last Jedi. I loved the headfake with Snoke. The combined Rey/Kylo fight was great Star Wars choreography. Luke as a burned out hippie who lived to see everything he dedicated himself to be twisted back on itself is a logical outcome that was have real world examples of. Saying Rey’s…
Great. We get to talk about this some more.
I loved Last Jedi and I wish the actors kept the internecine conversations behind closed doors, where they belong.
