Calling attention to the issue is fine, but referring to other humans as “degenerates” and comparing them to animals betrays a fundamental lack of empathy. It’s a depressingly common outlook and goes a long way toward explaining why SF and other cities ended up where they are now with the homeless.

“The difference is in other cosmopolitan cities, the lower part of society keep to themselves. They sell small trinkets, beg coyly, stay quiet, and generally stay out of your way. They realize it’s a privilege to be in the civilized part of town and view themselves as guests.”

I’m pretty sure Gopman could go get a sweet job at Palantir, Facebook, or Y Combinator tomorrow. They seem a lot more accommodating to people who believe in and write rants like that.
