I cant star this enough. People tend to leave me alone when I dont put down my nachos and stand up for the anthem (and I live in St. Louis!) but this shit pisses me off. Am a Navy brat, grandson to two amazing WWII vets (Airforce and Navy), nephew to an Army uncle. They gave fuckall about this shit.

1. It’s jingoistic bullshit, conflating religion, aka god, with a decidedly non-religious thing (the US government is not religious, regardless of what Rush Limbaugh tells you).  The US is not “guided” by god.

Anyway, “God Bless America” sucks in general and should be replaced with a better song.

It is time we stop singing any patriotic songs at sports games. No other country sings their national anthem before every single (non-international) sporting event no matter how inconsequential. God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch just plain sucks.  

Or flown Confederate flags. The Venn diagram of flag humpers and people who love to fly the flag of traitors has a weirdly large overlap.

These fucking assgoblins left players in hospitals in away cities, had their belongings piled in hotel lobbies because they wouldn’t pay the bills and haven’t released these guys from their contracts so they can pursue other opportunities?

There is no way they are truly independent contractors under the law.  Being called one or even signing a document stating you are one doesn’t make it so.

I disagree.  some people are just assholes and are fully cognizant of their actions.  It’s getting too easy to point to bad behavior, say “mental illness!!” and go on about your day.

What unwitting kids? Many of them actively posed with their water polo gear or rowing machines. And even if the parents helped change their board scores or photoshopped their headshots into athletes behind their backs, the kids should’ve known something was afoot when they got into a school after failing Art History…

I don’t feel bad for the kids at all. They had every possible advantage in life (including parents who were filling to commit crimes on their behalf) and they still couldn’t get accepted to decent colleges? Cry me a river.

Technically that’s inaccurate. They’re paid to dribble, shoot, pass, play defense, rebound, call plays (which requires not shutting up), talk to the media (also not shutting up), make public relations visits (again with the not shutting up), etc.  Hot take.
