As much as this irritates me, a business' number one priority is increasing its shareholder's wealth. It's not only their right, but their duty to make as much money as possible.

@vinod1978: iPad = .53 in thick, HP Slate 500 = .57 in thick. So .04 inches is the difference between "magical and revolutionary" and a "struggle"? Not to mention the fact that it is slightly smaller than the iPad which no one seems to complain about holding.

@acjwatt: You do realize that tablets had bezels long before the iPad, right? So, what's that again about believing in yourself and doing something different?

I doubt the UI is really that difficult to navigate. It's more about being trained to use any smartphone like you do an iPhone. Anything different has a learning curve.
