Yeah, but Doom was right.
Yeah, but Doom was right.
I'm not saying it isn't; I'm just noting (redundantly, I know) that not all white people are a part of it and that the issue can't be tackled purely on the grounds of race, as it's more complicated than that.
This is what I have to keep saying to people whenever Trump comes up now; being over so slightly more informed with regards to US politics than my tea-slurping comrades, I'm less worried about Trump by himself than I am about the prospect of the people he's bringing on board and the fact that he's an old man who, in…
I'm not saying your argument doesn't have merit, because I believe it does and that the right do seem to be better at shaping the narrative of late but I think it's more complicated.
I always feel awkward jumping in on these topics and playing devil's avocado, but I'd imagine some of the reason people lose their shit is the idea that racism is a wholly white people thing and that being white is the most important factor in the whole privilege business.
Oh so much more; I'm not sure how much the US has now, I know it's some, there's definitely some going on because we've all heard about it, but there's gonna be even more, just so much and, let me tell you, it'll be huge.
I'm aware of him and you may be right. However, without wishing to engage in mutual whataboutery, I'm not sure Duterte is that different from the numerous psychopathic dictators and demagogues the US has supported in the past.
Very true. Under Trump I fully expect a move towards mass surveillance, illegal detention and extrajudicial killings, among other vile and unsavoury things that make a mockery of everything the USA should stand for.
No need to get into personal insults, friend.
To be fair, I'm not sure these issues can be laid entirely at Whedon's door, given he was also working on Angel, Firefly and a few films during the later seasons of Buffy.
I'd highly recommend A Royal Affair, Flickering Lights and (particularly for fans of Hannibal) Green Butchers. Allusionist's suggestion is also excellent; by turns heartbreaking and hilarious.
I've had a suspicion that this wasn't quite what I wanted from a Dirk Gently series and all recent critical buzz has confirmed it.
He's lost quite a bit of weight in recent years. I think his health is pretty bad as of late. I actually find this news kinda depressing, as he seems to be a shadow of his former self in almost every way.
Pretty much my exact reaction, though I may have cringed a great deal more at the thought of this material being brought to the screen by the CW.
I think some of the problem is that many of those now iconic authors were either in some way broken or far removed from conventional society due to a variety of reasons. They saw the world from a unique perspective and I think reality had a different texture for them.
Ah, that makes sense.
I know this feeling. I started collecting them years ago and have to keep breaking off due to life and not wishing to declare bankruptcy.
That whooshing sound you may be hearing is your joke going clear over my head.
This is actually one of the few Stephen King books I haven't read and know very little of, so I'm fairly intrigued. Seems like there's real talent involved in the project.
