Oh but then everyone would want to be back there.

I hated my mother working and felt totally abandoned when she went back to school when I was five. I envied my friends whose mom's didn't work and picked them up after school. I never told my mom, though, because I felt guilty for feeling that way.

I refuse to believe that anyone on eHarmony has ever said anything remotely funny.

It's all about what you're happy with, but when you don't know someone, them dressing down tends to give off an air of them being down about themselves, or not valuing themselves as much as someone who dresses smartly. I am a comfort lover and hate dressing up, but even I, when I see someone dressed smartly, it makes

I disagree. Grooming is very much a window into the soul.

It's an issue in Latin America and amongst Latinos in America.

I love the refusal to let go of the notion that "the retreat from marriage is bad for society because it means less security for children" when therapists' offices and 12-step rooms are filled with people saying the exact opposite. People dread going home for the holidays to see their parents who refuse to get out of

Dude, why go monk?

This may have been brought up already, but who says that the abuse was more prevalent during that time? I'm more inclined to believe it was simply less reported before now. The taboo against reporting such a thing would be so great that it could easily have gone unreported for centuries.

@LostBedStuy: I've been to the Sofitel. It's not that high end. I'm not saying he was or wasn't set up. Just that the Sofitel is a regular mid-range hotel. He may have had an expensive suite, but I had a very middle class friend who stayed there. It's equivalent to the Hilton that is nearby.

Okay, that was just mean because I thought you meant Lynda Carter was dead.

First of all, I never argued for spray painting an animal. If you'd read what I wrote in my first comment which began this thread, I only said that to say that making a donkey stand outside in 85º heat is cruel or uncomfortable is stretching it. Donkeys are work animals. Most donkeys are weighed down with a hundred

From OC Weekly:

The OC Weekly story says the cops told one woman who is calling in frequently that the paint was non-toxic and the animal was fed and watered appropriately.

Oh, yeah. No one cares about the humiliation of women. Only donkeys.

Hate to break it to you, sweetheart, but Texas is on the Gulf, too.

Shhh...don't tell the gringos. They get mad.

I was being completely sarcastic. You'll see above that I told Seth he had me until that 85º heat comment. Under no circumstances is 85º an intolerable heat for an animal. Especially in Los Angeles where there is no humidity. Plus, the story in OC Weekly said the paint was non-toxic and the animal was adequately fed

Ba ha ha. As someone writing from Texas, I laugh in your general direction.

It's not an uncomfortable temperature. Especially in Los Angeles where there is no humidity. And also for an animal that is used to standing outside all day. It's not like donkeys normally hang out in air-conditioned condos.
