Just guessing a lot of folks have never watched OTA TV. The thing about Aereo is one had to keep paying, which is why I cut the cord to begin with. Netflix and Amazon and Hulu Plus are just more money suckers. But the DVR aspect is pretty nice except for the price. It's hell being so cheap!

There's nothing wrong with that setup - but what you're describing is different from what made Aereo attractive to a lot of people.

I've tried this with varying levels of success. In some buildings, this works great! In others, nothing at all. I think it has a lot to do with how your building is wired for cable, but yeah - it's definitely the kind of thing you should try before buying an antenna.
