Yep, it was called a light truck.  Just like how almost all vehicles today are “light trucks” aka SUVs when they are just jacked up 5 door hatchbacks.

“SUV used to be a term reserved for body-on-frame, truck-based vehicles, until the crossover XJ Jeep Cherokee came along and turned everything on its head.”

It does matter, because in the industry trucks are designed to 150k miles, and cars only to 100k.

I work in an automotive field, and while I’m a couple years removed from the job where this was a regular concern, we basically referred to anything body-on-frame as an SUV (and generally group them with pick-ups) and anything that looks like an SUV but is a unibody as a CUV. That said, I realize this distinction

May anyone who puts too many heating controls (HVAC, heated seats and steering wheel) through touch screen be forced to sit in the cold weather testing room with ski gloves duct taped on.

Everything? Touch screens mostly suck when my attention is supposed to be looking through the windshield at things outside of the vehicle.
More specifically: radio volume, anything related to the heater or lights, emergency flashers, wing mirror adjustments

Literally anything that you need to adjust while the vehicle is in motion.

I suppose the upside of TikTok is it ultimately may thin the heard a little.

Some British bullshit, pouring tea on your windshield. This is America, get that gun out the glovebox and shoot the snow off.

Gonna have to call BS on the TCO of trucks being “40-50% higher” - I’ve got a GTI, a Golf SEL and a Chevy Silverado. If anything the truck is overall a little cheaper than either of the VWs.

Doing a little more math, that works out to one battery pack every 300,000 miles or so, which really isn’t bad. The engines in most gas-powered cars often fail before they hit the 300,000-mile mark.”

The only reason to have 14 motors in 10 years is Tesla built a shitty motor to begin with.

Doesn’t change the fact that 14 motors means there’s something fundamentally wrong with the motors.

Harris has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and a few other gun charges, The Banner reports. Because he’s under 21 years old, he cannot legally own a handgun.

959. Unless you wanna hand me a few million bucks, of course. Then I totally would own one.

“The U.S. wants to transition to electric vehicles, in hopes of mitigating the climate catastrophe that will soon kill us all.”

I don’t know why anyone regardless of political leanings approves Biden’s EV policy. We are not ready for a transition to fully electric. I would also pay 500 bucks to see Ole Addled Joe try to explain it in under ten minutes without a teleprompter or cue cards. Start with hybrids, fix the grid and then transition to

Eh, my current ICE vehicles both exceed their EPA rating in our regular use. Now, Iknow that isn’t the case for all vehicles.

Even in ICE vehicles the EPA MPG numbers were always kind of “off” of what someone got in the real world.
