Part of the problem is that American culture is that its okay to be stupid, arrogant and self entitled, and just “fuck everyone else” and the only way to curb that is to parent them. Which is why sadly in some cases nanny states are needed because these people were not PROPERLY taught by their parents how to behave in

No way in hell I’m letting someone put a device on my car that restricts its speed/acceleration. I don’t condone reckless speeding in traffic, but I do enjoy taking my car and motorcycle out on a empty country road and having some fun. This is still a car enthusiast blog, right? Seams like the last few years it’s been

Thank you for sharing the Galloway story.  Very cool company I’ve never even heard mentioned.  I’d love to read a book on the history and models they produced.

Maybe its just because I’m older now (41), or had a kid, or whatever else. But man it seems like the roads are more dangerous than they have ever been at any time of my 26 year driving career. Ever since the pandemic ended people are so much more aggressive behind the wheel. They drive so much faster and with zero

Whoever said Mansory needs to have their IP address blocked from this website.

Nobody:

“Why would an automaker manufacture a car with so much engine power that it requires an eight-speed transmission?”

The question is backwards. In general, the less power you have, the more gears (speeds) you need. If an engine was very powerful, it could get by with one gear.

“A big number of gears means the car has a ton of horsepower”

ZF’s 9-speed is a piece of shit.

Bentley needs to be more like Koenigsegg and build a car that’s so slow it only needs a one-speed transmission. Very irresponsible.

Why an eight speed?

Yeah but average doesn’t mean minimum.  This is the type of scenario that steers the market back towards lower-priced cars, which is going to mean smaller in most cases.  People may not be able to afford what they want (which many could when real interest rates on car loans were effectively zero, or even negative) but

Feels like the government (with their free Covid money) and the companies that are paying more in wages want their money back, and with interest. More than just classic inflation?

As others have talked about, I don’t see how people are swinging this stuff. However, every car company that says “that’s it, I’m going to focus on cheap cars that people can afford” gets boned with no sales, while companies that say “Can I make a 10,000 lb vehicle made out of rhino horns, platinum, and unicorn fur?”

And before someone comes along with the “but only rich people buy houses and new cars””

I’m not sure how long the market expects to go on like this.

Yup, when you have something that works, stick with it. (Check Challenger sales vs Mustang and Camaro.)

The Saturn Sky Redline, sure, but the Solstice? The Solstice Coupe?
