Nah, they’ll probably find a way to blame the strike. Prices always go up; they have to because growth must always go up.

Now playing

$5000 taillights aren’t helping either:

Insurance is ballooning out of control to compensate.

Nah that’s BS, you mean to tell me Toyota can’t do this but with the 86? Thats Heresy!

(pretty boring) anime”

Useless comparison to the M1 Unless you have a Picture

Now if only Toyota had the bawls to bring this back into production with a retro body, and call it the Takumi edition, that would be rad

I was just going to say the same thing. By unreliable... you mean a bad thermostat? The rest is normal maintenance! An A4 is not a Bugatti... there are many independent mechanic shops that can do basic services for cheap. No need to put yourself in debt for something newer unless you really just want a new car.

Remind me why there is a desire to drop a car that is paid off just because you have to pay for normal maintenance? US materialism and privilege at its finest.

Or learn a bit about the car and find a good local Audi mechanic (not one at the stealership). There are plenty of Audi forums (Audizine, for example) where OP can learn about possible issues and ways to mitigate them.

It’s fully paid off

Huh. So he had one issue this year (covered by the way) on a 6year old car with likely 70K plus miles. That makes it unreliable? Or is it the fact that he needed brakes and tires at that mileage? Also, 80K service is no way $1,500 I mean wtf. It is oil change and spark plugs. Jesus Christ

Besides the thermostat class-action repair, everything listed is a regular maintenance item that also applies to EVs. Tires and brakes apply to every car and wear more quickly on a heavier vehicle - an EV will certainly be much heavier than the A4.

Keep the Audi gift from you parents (cost you nothing to purchase, I hope). Repairing it, modding it etc still won’t bring you closer to some of these EV prices recommended by the authors. None of the EVs will feel as “nimble” or spirted to drive as the A4. Also, If you need more power, the VAG 2.0T engines are

I don’t know many who would dispute that it’s possible to drive an EV long distances. But it’s a fact that having to charge for 30 minutes (assuming an available fast charging station lies on your route) isn’t as convenient as a 2 minute fill up at a ubiquitous gas station where you probably didn’t have to wait for a

Oh wow. One person drove across country so it is fine! Not everyone takes the same route and there are huge swaths of areas where people want to go with no chargers.

SHOCKED! No one could have predicted this.

Easy. Eliminating their health impacts didn’t reduce the effectiveness of gasoline or our ability to fireproof buildings.

Additionally, I’d be interested in the long term impact of strip-mining the planet for precious metals versus maintaining existing oil wells/production.

Well, BEV yeah. I think there needs to be more consideration for other kinds of EV like hydrogen. The energy density in even the most advanced battery is a non-starter to take on the energy demands of human transportation.

We need to be pushing on all kinds of alternative approaches, including more efficient petrol
