no Hellcat? The Challenger Hellcat came out in 2015 and was literally all anyone talked about. Then came all the other Hellcat models afterwards which reinvented (relative) cheap performance.  700hp was and is crazy.

We used to have a family cabin. I miss having a quite place in the woods even if it was a 600 mile drive! There would be no charging anywhere near there, unless they added a charger at Misty’s exotic dancers and tavern. I doubt it because it’s more of a biker crowd there. The leather kind, not the spandex kind.

Isn’t the Tesla Model 3 a penalty box? Every review I have read says it has an awkward user interface and abysmally poor ride quality.

You can add the Honda Fit to that list of the those departed from the US market.

What vehicle do you use to carry 7 people regularly?

This. I am switching car seats between vehicles all the time and the modern small openings for the rear doors suck.

It’s really the rear-facing stage that sucks. I don’t own this exact one, but it looks like just like. I’ve got one like this, and a second one turned around facing the other way. The kiddos daily in an Outback, which is pretty large, but if I adjust the seat for myself, I’m right up against the back of the

important only to people where “acceptable losses” is in their daily vocabulary

Orrrr, and this will sound crazy, but hear me out... maybe the problem isn’t EVs or Fossil fuels, it’s the fact that we’ve built a country where there is no way to get around unless you own a 4,000lb personal transportation unit.

This is it. Exactly. It’s about cars, yes, and our absurd need for them. But it’s also about consumption generally. It’s easy to advocate for EVs because they allow us to scratch two itches - driving cars a lot and buying something new - while thinking we’re doing some great thing for the environment.

What are you even doing on this site if you hate cars so much?

We should really, as a society, stop taking the word of *for profit* companies about the potential impacts of what they’re planning to do.  Everything they say should be treated with suspicion.

I agree but also want to point out this is primarily an American thing. Every time I travel to a European city, I end up walking 10 miles a day and never using a car unless it’s late and I want to get home quick. And when that happens, it costs a metric ****ton.

EV’s are so sensationalized and politicized at this point you’ll get canceled for saying they’re not better for the environment than fossil fuel cars.
One of my cars for traffic and city use is a 2016 Suzuki Swift. It’s a 1.4 automatic that’s punchy enough to get me home (mountains) and yet returns over 33mpg. For

who needed a scientist to explain mining is bad?

You might think that, but I think there’s no difference between someone who appreciates and loves cars and someone who also acknowledges they’re a terrible transportation solution. Driving a manual sports car through the canyons fast with no traffic ahead of you and tons of road ahead is fun. Using that same car to go

Fossil Fuels - Air and water pollution. Land degradation.

How could it be more destructive when literally everything I read about the practice was that it was enormously destructive at a scale that could not really be imagined?
