1. The transaxle they used was an adaptive auto based off the 41TE. It would adapt to driving style and could offer extremely quick/crisp shifting for the time. It’s downfall is the average owner puddled around town, so anyone jumping in to wring it out only feels a transmission that’s adapted to slow driving.

Sloppy shifters combined with sloppy clutches allowed them to sap any little bit of soul it should have had right out of it.
