The Eclipse and Avenger both start off the Chrysler D Platform. The Eclipse built on the PJ, the Avenger on the FJ, both Evolving to the ST-22 Platform for the next generation.

People who know little install them, fail to tune them properly, and end up with a fireball.

And I would venture to guess most of “the guy” are young enough they no longer know of the common failings, so instead of knowing the easy fix, they just advise against them because they’re beyond their knowledge.

While not fast, that little engine loved to rev and they were actually pretty damn fun to throw down backroads floating the rev limiter.

Makes that entire rant while not even knowing the Avenger was built on the 2nd gen Eclipse platform...
