In his early movies there is clearly thought being put into all the jokes. The jokes may not be for everyone, but there are some absurd things in his early movies (except for Going Overboard which I watched on the same day as Sextette and was worse than Sextette!)

Speed Racer is decent and is actually Speed Racer. They didn't try to make it realistic and adapted the original's tone which is what made the original cartoon well remembered.
