I agree with your basic sentiment. I have a complicated relationship with spoilers that has only recently started to manifest, and I fear that I’ve been caught up in the general internet hysteria about spoilers.

I mean, I get it - music is subjective, and even within metal there’s a lot of stupid genre hair-splitting and weird arbitrary lines. But I find it a little hard to believe that there’s not a single person on staff that isn’t into metal or hard rock. Both Carcass and Baroness have made it on to other lists of this ilk.

That’s because it’s a boring, self-indulgent, and overall not very good album.  People were just excited because it had been so long since the last Tool album.

Nah, it’s the success. If the ethics were the problem, then it would be presented in a way that said that - “I don’t think people should be profiting so much from other people’s work”.
