Sonys invite system was essentially a Golden Ticket. I got one somehow, but going on Reddit there were an absolute TON of people who didn't get invited that are much bigger PS4/PS+ users than I am. It was just dumb luck to get an invite. However, it seems they had a ton available for that because I signed in 2 hours…

PS4 was. I wasn’t able to secure a PS4 until weeks after it launched and even then I had to get extremely lucky.

You could say this about literally any electronics product ever, my man. Sometimes people just want something new because it makes them happy.

There was no "street date" for PS5s though. I'm not sure where people got that idea. There were a few "pre-orders should start tomorrow" tweets floating around but that's it and nobody even said what time zone "tomorrow" even started in.
