@blue: Actually, it tends to be commentators and critics who make art controversial. Guess who that is in this case.

@ludwigk: Well, that makes sense when you think about it, doesn't it? Thanks for the detailed science lesson...if this new comment promotion system or whatever it is ever worked for me, I'd give you a little star for sure.

As far as ice cream goes, surrounding it with ice probably won't work so well.

@nonewhatsoever: I don't know of a way to do what you're asking - instead, I'd recommend getting used to hitting Ctrl+T to open a new tab. Takes a little finger training at first, like all keyboard shortcuts, but it quickly becomes indispensible second nature.

@lordargent: If your numbers were accurate, you'd be on to something. The problem is that BMI doesn't take different body types into account at all, so I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near a 90%/10% distinction. As it stands, it's pretty much just one more reason for people who are perfectly healthy to have low

@kflott: For something as stripped-down as this, I'd expect the prices to be lower than their more feature-laden competitors. Sure, you can get a virtually useless emergency-only 50 minutes/month for $15, but any of their more normally apportioned plans are less economical than any of the major carriers. I guess the

@John Brunetti: I didn't want to go buy anything for the process either when I went to do it a couple years ago. Do a little Googling, and you'll find all you need to have is a couple Torx screwdriver bits (the one thing I did end up buying was one of those, and I wouldn't have even had to do that if I didn't want to

@gat0rjay: Cool; thanks for the confirmation. Good to know.

@gat0rjay: You could run [msinfo32.exe] instead of winver and look at "System Type" (should list "X86-based PC" or "X64-based PC"), but you don't have to go to the trouble unless you want to know too...does XP 64-bit even have a Service Pack 3?

@jbhenry: Awesome; thanks for the response. I'd love to have the advantages of a 64-bit OS while not having to boot into XP to use Adobe apps for which I can't afford upgrades at the moment.

@SDreamer: I think what he means is that even if something doesn't work in Vista, even though the structure of 7 is more similar to Vista than XP, it can work in 7 because you'll be able to run XP in a virtual machine. Haven't heard anything about native virtualization in Vista yet.

This may have been addressed elsewhere (and it may be a stupid question anyway; not sure), but...

I thought the "white room" was for tea and gossip, not TVs.

I might be missing something here, but the pictures make it look as if the only way this would work is combined with an off-camera external flash. I guess it's a way to get slightly more even illumination, but I thought the purpose of a ring flash was to sit at the end of the lens, mostly for close-up photography.

@John W. Peterson: If you look closely, I don't think it's sagging; I think it's barrel distortion from his (probably point-and-shoot) lens.

Vote: Avid Media Composer

@balls187: It pales terribly. I can typically only go a few days at a time without missing the Brie and Camembert I had daily when I lived in Normandy for a few weeks. Haven't had anything like it, before or since.

I really hate to be that guy, but I just can't let it go:

@Theoutlet: Wow, and I thought the lady who would pound on our shared wall when I played games in the middle of the afternoon (louder than I would at 1AM, but still not what I would call "loud" - I like my sense of hearing) was annoying.

@RaphaelaChelios: The social contract? Really? Do explain how that applies here.
