72 miles one way, from lowly little Durand, MI down to the heart of Warren to the GM Tech center. I’m approaching 2 years of doing this now. It’s rough with all the I-75 and various surface road construction in the area, let me tell you, and it has forced me to buy (at the risk of being un-Jalop-like) an automatic.
So, I owned one up until 4 weeks ago. Bought it new in January 2017. Base model “S” trim with the DSG transmission. Complaints about my car? Absolutely zero.

I’m a fellow Michigander.
I am trying to upkeep and revitalize no less than 3 rare (read: parts semi-unobtanium) vehicles.
Add to that the other 4 “more common” projects, and you start to think I’m rich.
Alas, I am not. I’m an average, starting engineer in the automotive industry.

The 140's can certainly be had in the price point, but they’re likely to have Powerglides. 110 HP twin-carb cars can be had with a 4-speed in that territory. You won’t touch…
@Maha: I appreciate it! I miss the orange at times, but that’s not my call. She’ll go back to dark red as stated in my submission. I’m just tickled that I made the cover photo for the wrap-up article!
I was kicked out of my parents’ house at age 21, and got an apartment. At the time (mid-2010), I had a 2011 Mustang V6 and a 2006 Escape V6 4WD.
Amen! My lady had one when we first met. Used it to teach her how to autocross (and it didn’t handle badly at all), and used it to teach her how to R&R parts. Had to replace both a door and a front bumper on the thing from her dad smacking into it twice in their own driveway.
I’ll take a shot at remembering mine...
