C'mon, $105k? I didn't even read a word of the article before voting CP.

LOL

Hah, my grandma had a '92 Tempo with the V6 second-hand. She drove it for 10 years, gave it to me, I drove it 5 years, sold it to another guy, he inherited his sister's PT Cruiser (I know, right?) and sold off the Tempo. I still see it around town!

Hah, I borrowed someone's slusher I4 or I6 (?) Fox-body Mustang when I was in college, was excited until I discovered that Not All Mustangs.

Whhoooaa, JalopZip share pool... if NYC Jalops collectively bought all the best NPOCP cars!

Yo dawg, I heard you like Mustangs...

Aside: these look totally ridiculous when slammed IMO... took a while to find a normal-looking photo

Around 2002, Bonanza NYC/Port Authority to Hartford. The driver took the route up through the city, up around Columbus Circle to get out. The whole time he was sweating, and as he went around a turn, he would nervously say things like, "Oh my God... that was a close one." He was gripping the wheel, leaning forward

Hatchback = Mordor

The day for my driver's test came, and along with it a torrrrrrential freakin' rainstorm. It was late summer in Connecticut, so we went out, the McGonagallish inspector and I.

Absolutely agree!

Anyway, the car is obviously not a huge speed demon, but its 0-60 is about the same as a first-gen GTI, to put it in perspective. With the A/C on though, it was indeed a dog.

The illustrations of the steam shovel totally freaked me out when I was very young.

Dark green all the way.... British Racing Green, VW's Baltic Green...

I've always fantasized about vaulting over a moving car (usually in the context of wondering what would happen if a car veered onto the sidewalk in Midtown Manhattan). This is cool though

Remarkable that a car stolen 30 years ago is still in good shape... I guess the thief laundered and immediately sold it to a legit collector-ish party?

When I was a kid, I had a Big Brother (as in Big Brothers/Big Sisters) with an S10 pickup with stick. He taught me in a parking lot and on the road, and also let me drive his girlfriend's Maxima. It went okay. I later bought a first-gen Jetta GLI with stick, and more recently a 2007 Honda Fit. I never learned fancy
