Between this, unmanning many of our oversees posts, recklessly calling the new nationalist Taiwanese president, and thoughtless Tweets about nuclear weapons...it’s like no foreign policy is the new foreign policy. We’re just going to stay here, build a wall around ourselves, and hurl Tweets at the outside world.

Similar but(t) different:

Seriously. I’m not religious, but some of her illustrations and annotations suggest that she has studied hard and also synthesized a lot of material. That’s cool.

Totally - growth and change are uncomfortable. I’m just keeping my hopes up for the new public transportation system.

My perspective is more from living there than regarding the numbers. People in my neighborhood now have to park on the sidewalk as a result of increased residencies without a comparable increase in parking. Ideally we’d all stop driving cars, but the much improved public transpo system is gonna be a little while.

The problem is largely that homeless services are centralized instead of dispersed, which is how phenomenons like Skid Row came to be. While it is alarming to work at clinics in Skid Row and see the high concentration of homelessness, I am inclined to agree with you. Homelessness in CA isn’t worse, it’s

Nope. Any adult who f*cks with travel during the holidays needs to be booted promptly. It’s enough of a shitshow without idiots who think their opinions need to be heard.

One of the main problems with reading the research on the effects of weed and then basing one’s personally use on the research, is that weed is a plant with many different strains that is not controlled, and may be mixed with traces of random whatever depending on your source.

You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t when it comes to pregnancy.

Yes. I think you really hit the nail on the head for how this could be implemented well and why it’s important.

I’m not even sure if it’s worth engaging with this comment because it’s so uninformed that I suspect trolling. But, quick rundown of the info:

Very true for certain distances. Going through the millions of instances in which car travel is incredibly unrealistic or flat-out unfeasible would be absurd. Sometimes, air travel has to happen. Luckily, ‘lots of kiddos are willing to bottle-feed or nurse, which greatly reduces the problems felt due to changing

Yes! I never understand the baby hatred. We were all once babies who were just as incapable of understanding the awful sensation of rapidly changing pressure.

This picture makes me so, so uncomfortable.

It’s so infuriating. But, I mean, I also know abortion doulas who have helped their clients through abortions during which OBGYNs have openly berated the clients for waiting too long or for getting pregnant in the first place. So, unfortunately, little surprises me at this point.

You’d be surprised by how many medical professionals are comfortable with the cognitive dissonance of working day-to-day to fix problems on the individual basis, and then voting for politicians and policies that effectively create more problems for these individuals.

My hyperbolic mistake :) I do not have experience with any ODs on benzos alone, but I am increasingly concerned about their use. The latest evidence shows that they’re becoming a substance of choice among older adults, which I fear will lead to a lot of CNS-related problems (falls, etc.)

I was thinking of friends who add benzos to the mix of alcohol, weed, and other substances they usually consume to “unwind” after a hard week. A psychiatrist friend hates benzos for this very reason - they seem benign, but when added to this mix just compound the risk for respiratory depression. So, “otherwise healthy

Super valid, I just think that no one should be tinkering with meds without consultation, even if it’s just talk therapy with someone who keeps tabs on you while you’re going through a medication transition.

Yeah, two people in my life with the education to DIY their prescriptions experienced complete disasters when they went ahead and changed their dosages. I’m all about empowering patients, but it’s just not something we can do - or should do - ourselves.
