    We re-watched Cheers last year and I'd say this is an interesting case. The post-Long show wasn't better than the high points of the show with Shelly Long, but that final season with her wasn't nearly as good as what came before, so I think it did improve the show even though it was great with her.

    Really? I think it would be easier than explaining one's love of Elliot Smith. Plus you're not obligated to be morose.

    Which is why the Fox shows are so annoying: on the UK version of "Kitchen Nightmare", he actually seemed to care about the people involved. And there was no stupid narrator. Fox seems to pick the troubled businesses based on how ethnic and argumentative the owners are.
