Never have I been prouder to be a former Girl Scout.

One of my daughter’s best friends is transgender. She “came out” last year when she was 10. It was an incredibly difficult journey, but with the support of her parents it has turned out fine so far. There was a mild shit storm from some conservative parents, one family even left the school. But now, she is happy,

I have a lot of regrets about not transitioning in my childhood, but not being able to be in the Girl Scouts is one of those ones I keep coming back to.

criticism from conservative religious groups.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN “THE GIRL SCOUTS ARE ACCEPTING GIRLS?!”

FINE I’M CRYING FINE. My grinchy heart. FINE.

Fighting pits? More like snake pits! Snake pits? More like sand snake pits!

Honest Sunscreen. It is free of a lot of chemicals and they re-did the formula recently and it is great. Also, bonus, it really is scentless.

The Johnny Cash/Hurt is amazing. I’m not sure the artist even gets the choice of what they’re covering on Live Lounge. Even if they do I don’t think they get too much advance time to work out the arrangement. I think it’s more of a “one-off” Some of the covers are INSANE (see Hozier), some are funny, and some are

I like when the songs transform, for sure. Chet Faker does a pretty sexy cover of No Diggity if you are into that type of thing....

She’s lovely, but serious question here: what makes a great cover? I tend to really dig covers that transform a song, like Johnny Cash making Hurt his own.

White tears. So delicious.

White people are so fragile. We have the upper hand in basically every social structure in the U.S. How about we let people call it out without risk of being fired from their jobs?

I can’t upvote this enough times, as a former Southerner.

With FOX and the Washington Times bringing their tiny little hands

I love you. I love you I love you I love you.

As a one-time linguistics major, grammar peeving seems so silly. So many people seem to immediately react badly to any non-standard or non-literary usage, but I’m like, “What a trivial thing to get upset at.” And why does it impact so badly on so many people when they hear some novel usage — shouldn’t we get excited

We have a strict 4 big bites rule. Every kid automatically hates something new at 1 bite, but after 4 decent sized bites if you don’t like it - it’s fine. There are things I don’t like either.

I await the version of this for adults with child-like pickiness.
