I mean at some point I think updates should stop, but I feel gaming tech to be far enough behind to get maybe 2 3 year upgrades before catching up to PC and everyone being in a comfortable position. It’s not going to be exactly like phones since they do them yearly.

That’s all consoles have ever been since they first came to market. The console offers something different than a pc. It’s more user friendly, easier to use, and has significantly less issues and is much cheaper than a gaming PC. Any PC that costs the same as a ps4 is pointless.

It’s not that people don’t have the money per-say. It’s the fact that people buy a console for it’s ease of use and it’s assumed longevity. I think upgrades every two to three years will just turn people off. I believe this will make more people think hard about buying a console over a PC.

so if i wanna play games that are coming out 2017 i have to upgrade to 4k otherwise i can't play why the fuck are they turning consoles into PCs! this will alienate the current ps4 and it will force you to buy a new 4k upgrade

So we’re applying the cell phone business model to game consoles now? It would make sense if you got a super discounted system with the purchase of PS Plus or Xbox Live, but I don’t think they’ll do that. I’m sure devs are bummed about the disparity in power between pc and console, but they’d probably prefer a less

Well, maybe you make a lot money and dont mind spending $400 every 3 years, but a lot of people are under budget because there are stuff to pay like rent, schools, utilities and food
