This. Neither the accountant or the engineer makes the decision to spend millions on a particular product. Their job is to report the relevant facts up the chain. If their manager or someone 2-3 layers up is a spineless yes-man, the system collapses.
I actually love the rear end Andrew posted. It’s not beautiful in the sense the Miura is. It’s purposeful, like the Ferrari 288 or Porsche 935. I’m a sucker for an exposed transmission/diff/suspension with a boldly styled ass above it. Bonus points for a big turbo hanging out.
I took 2 years of dual enrollment classes (36 hours total) during HS then transferred to a state school. Overall I think it was a good experience and certainly saved time, as I was able to do in 4 years what took many people 5 (mechanical engineering left 0 room for retaking classes). I highly recommend this for…
I keep trying to talk my wife into looking at a Jeep since she needs a new vehicle. I want reasonable efficiency out of it. She wants something with a high seating position and would like “off-road” capability (family farm, think forest roads). So far the winner has been the Escape, but I don’t think off-roading one…
I would love to replace my Focus with this and something ridiculous and inefficient like a Mustang GT or Hemi Charger. This would be for commuting and autocross, then the other for when I need to cart the family around. I love the 2 door styling.
Yup. My wife says I need cheaper hobbies, I say I need a bigger (read: existent) budget for them.
Next best thing to a factory service manual.
As a nit-picky point: carburetors are fuel metering devices, not fuel mixing devices. Fuel and air don’t mix, they can only be emulsified. This is key when tuning, as the emulsion tubes, venturi, and intake runners between carb and valve all play a crucial part in ensuring the fuel atomizes and remains in suspension…
He also left out advances in street tire technology in assuming a car would have to “break the laws of physics” to beat his theoretical time. Tire technology, even at the top level, is still as much art as science. Until that changes, we won’t see or even know the limits of what can be done.
This needs more stars.
I’m constantly fighting many of the same issues on my 44 year old VW Thing, I can’t imagine another 25 years of Northern farm use... I don’t envy you on this one.
Don’t forget the millions of lid-flinging Samsung dryers!
It’s... Different. The actors make it because the story is completely ridiculous. Definitely gets better with a couple of drinks.
I don’t know... The whole Stig mystique is one of the reasons I can’t get into Grand Tour as much as old Top Gear. Sabine has her thing and does it well.
Shhh... Leave some space. I don’t want to be in SC for the rest of my life. Outside of the upstate, it’s exactly like Florida without the income to build real cities.
That’s both trippy and hella cool. Looks great on such a wide ass.
That’s it, the first mark means you should be shifting to second and so on from there. Why they didn’t number them 2, 3, and 4 I don’t know.
Same here... I saw temps well over 95* when I daily drive my Thing in deforested parts of central/southwest SC. I have no longer have any love for those summers.
Nope... For my VW, I rely on a handful of reputable retailers to vet the parts before I spend my money on scrap metal. When I go to the FLAPS, I know I’m getting average parts at best. When I go to Amazon, I have no clue and no way to filter the good brands from the bad and the reviews from non car people are…
