I could have sworn that looked like an industrial engine piece, but couldn’t place what it might be. Did not know it was part of the early engines. The more you know!

This needs more stars.
How’s that work out life expectancy-wise? Food has to spoil at some point right?
Damn... This is too relatable. Although, I do enjoy some of my job, travel a decent amount, and drink often enough.
My mom almost did that after going from her 6MT Jetta to my dad’s 944 Turbo. Luckily she had a feeling something was wrong as she was about to lift the clutch at 70+mph. I still don’t think my dad knows about it...
That’s definitely where the two bachelorettes go. Or wife and mistress for the truly adventurous Lexus owner (a rare breed, but there have to be a few out there)...
If I had the cash, I’d set up a shop just like his building the cars I want to see and selling them for absurd money. Agree with his business or not, Ward is making a killing doing what he loves and keeping a lot of cool metal out of the scrap pile (almost all of which was out of my price range even before his markup…
Is it just me or is “Stinger” a bit too optimistic a name for Kia’s first real sports car? I know they’re into unusual names, but that just sounds like the $40k factory equivalent of a Fast and Furious-era ricer released much too late.
That’s interesting, thanks for the tip. I still have an old desktop with XP for some software that I don’t want to buy new licenses for, so I guess that’ll be the way to go.
I really need to break out my copy of Porsche Unleashed again. That might be my all time favorite racing game (though I’ll admit I haven’t played many in the past 3-4 years).
AMG Hammer definitely wins the sedan category. That Benz manages to ooze both class and crazy from every seam.
That’s not something I’ve thought about before. I don’t know that I had a specific breakout point, though I’d say I’m still in it (same age as you). Most of my homeschooled friends had their moment around the end of high school or early in college. I was the youngest of them so I got to watch a few of them really…
I’m continuing this grossly off-topic thread to agree with you. I was homeschooled from 2nd grade until starting classes at the tech college in my junior year of high school. I was given the option to go to public school but was content at the time and stayed at home. Most of my social activity revolved around church…
I had a professor who told us that mechanical engineers should always wear bow ties because we never knew when we might need to be near machinery. He had am impressive collection of bow ties.
As my dad always liked to say, you can argue right of way all you want, but it doesn’t matter once you’re dead. It’s your ass on the line, put up the cones.
The amazing part about this story is actually getting to talk to a live person at the local Comcast office. That must have taken the intervention of a judge or something.
This reminds me that I need to work on patenting the idea I have written down (not at all related to cars). Wish the process weren’t so damn expensive...
Ah yes, beautiful Los Angeles. At least there’s usually a nice view when you’re stuck in traffic.
Elevator engineer here... The big elevator companies have all tried crazy things that never leave the test hoistways, but to my knowledge no one has ever put the machine on the cab. Even the quietest (machine room less/MRL) machines produce too much noise and vibration to possibly isolate. It is also too…
Definitely... Here in SC, my old VW can cover more than enough ground to get bored in a matter of hours doing less than half of Raptor speeds.
