I totally get what you mean, since I sort of have the same problem. My solution isn't the best but it works: taking some melatonin one hour or so before I think I should get to bed. It makes me sleepy enough to not stay up and make one more banner in Adobe Flash, or work just a couple more minutes on that 3D-model

I fail miserably at looking long term vs short term. That's why I'm constantly up til 2am when I need to wake by 6am. Youtube videos. Web surfing. Catching up on just one more episode (which ends up being 3). etc. Lol.
