See the court case Finders v Keepers.

By the time I got there even their breakroom was ransacked, so I didn’t even get a Hertz donut.

The most surprising part about all of this is that Hertz didn’t try to immediately arrest all of the customers.

COVID hasn’t killed enough people. Release the robot cars!

I’ve only flown Spirit once, and honestly it wasn’t any worse than any other airline. Yes, you pay extra for EVERYTHING, but more and more that seems to be the model that all airlines are following. It’s like the mobile game industry and their microtransactions. It’s not that I loved, or even liked Spirit... it’s that

There are many technical areas of work that are so vast and deep that you could spend an entire career in it, and not know 25% of it. That has been true of my career in manufacturing and I suspect is true of many other fields. “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know”.

I remember one of the top expert once introduce as the expert on certain subject and he simply, “I’m not an expert i just studied the subject matter for two decades and published dozen studies on it”

There’s a mechanic getting one of these for Christmas.

LOL. Yeah it sounds like he had some issues with fine motor skills and learning there. And 99% of that is completely OK. Though the dude probably should have stopped and asked someone about the shovel before he did it, I’m pretty sure at some point in the process early than that he was like “this is weird”

<3 This on the head. Amazing points. A lot of people are taught "smart" means "knows everything" but it actually means "knows a lot". And being truly smart includes listening and following. If Elon was truly smart he would listen to chemical engineers and everyone else involved and do what they said

I really, honestly, and genuinely thought this was going to be about battery degradation.

Not at all. I fear that I might be getting prudish in my old age. That scares me too.

I doubt we’d be looking at a huge explosion here, but something more like an engine failure.

This sort of thing is exactly why there’s a stereotype about doctors being terrible at investing and money management. Knowing lots of doctors, I’d say that often extends to medical areas beyond their scope of practice (my Dad was an anesthesiologist for decades, but he knows the basics or less about many other areas

This was my father-in-law to a T, without the self-awareness.

(shrug) That’s nothing; we’re about to fly for four years with a tool in the pilot’s seat!

This. Aaron Rodgers has spent his life getting good at playing Quarterback, so it stands to reason he’s a reputable expert on the subject. But what is there about 20 years of throwing balls and being hit in the head that makes him an expert about vaccines?

“just enough to be dangerous”.

I don’t feel so bad now about the 3 to 4 10mm sockets somewhere in the engine bay of my car.
