That’s what I’m thinking too, like it’s a low-background-radiation steel that is needed for things like MRI machines.
How many limbs are we talking about?
I wonder how they’ll factor in limb loss and the various slices and smashings one gets from regular use.
To be fair, Hyundai has known about this part for a long time and has/had chosen to leave it just like it is. Like losing virginity to a partner who casually mentions the day after that they tested positive for syphilis a week ago and maybe check with a doctor. Just spoils the mood.
I really appreciate that first paragraph. I’ve been a Jalopnik fan for over 15 years, but the recent flood of Tesla/Musk-related posts has been pretty disappointing. While I love my Model 3, I’m not a fan of Musk. I do think there’s a way to critique him while still acknowledging that Teslas can be both incredible…
Absolutely. Some of the lobotomies weren’t recent.
Half of me wants to trade it for a Corolla — not a GR, just a Corolla
102k for that delivery experience is absolutely hilarious. Do they have anybody that works there that has not had a recent lobotomy?
you too can achieve better gas mileage in a manual car if the top gear is a damn tall ass cruising gear and short shifting everything lol.
The average selling price is $48k. That doesn’t mean the median selling price is $48k. The median is going to be much lower. The average is higher because the high end is stretched out by the expensive cars where sky is the limit.
There was a time long, long ago when manual cars had better MPGs than automatics.
So your worst day in 54 years was that you got sick? I don’t know whether to applaud or scold you. Count yourself lucky you haven’t had any actual hardships.
Looking at just how much car you can get for $48k right now, it’s absolutely mind blowing that half of the population is spending more than that. I know most of those are loaded up F150 Super Crews, but I can’t imagine looking at the alternatives and still deciding to take out a seven year (!) loan on one of those…
That was a great read Peter, I’m laughing at the situation but with knowing empathy hidden inside.
Wow, a thought-provoking, honest to goodness write up! I’m sorry about your situation obviously, but thank you for that great read. Reminded me of the regular, entertaining write-ups we’d get from Torch, David Tracy and the like.
well...
Drive outside the marked lines and then shit happens it isn’t the DOT’s fault, sorry. If missing a turn that bad just let GPS route you to the next turn to get back on course. And if you’re driving the interstates around ATL you’re already gambling with you and your cars safety.
You can’t drive there, mate.
Wouldn’t the Maverick just be an Escape or Bronco Sport?
