To be fair, the parts supply chain still hasn’t fully recovered from the COVID years. My F10 535d has been in the shop waiting for parts since January. I’ve even seen Honda Accords and Toyota Tacomas waiting many months for parts

I daily drive a 124 and it is my favorite car that I’ve ever owned. It is reliable and incredibly fun to drive. It uses the 1.4 multiair engine which is in a lot of Stellantis cars and the rest of the mechanicals are from the Miata so parts are easy to come by. However, body parts are very hard to find. It took nearly…
I’m a broken record about the 996, but you can honestly get a driver in the teens. You don’t need a pristine example. Hell, I bought one with a rebuilt title. They’re absolutely fantastic things to drive.
Can’t believe that nobody’s mentioned an EcoBoost Mustang. Starting MSRP is $31k, and it’s a blast to drive (although the new generation’s interior is a huge step back from the previous gen’s).
A used BMW 1 series could also be a great budget sports car. Huge community of support and lots of upgrades available.
The Forester was going to be my suggestion as well.
but is a Lexus with 188k miles really more reliable than a Jag with 100k miles?
Wish they sold this in automatic form.
Is the Fiat Spyder 124 terrible? I’ve been thinking of a short-term purchase then buy a plug-in or EV in 2 years. I like the looks of the 124 and the prices on the used market are good. I was a pretty dedicated Mazda fan for many years, but I like the 124 style better.
I’ll throw the Civic Si out there. New is $30k ish and you can get a certifed used one for mid $20k range. Fun, great shifting, 4dr or 2dr options (2dr used only) and cheap to own. I think it’s a great option for a super fun sporty daily driver that won’t break the bank.
Miata is still the answer, but BRZ works if you need/want a hardtop.
BRZ is the answer.
“I'm shot! Someone go check if gun battles are prohibited by the Bylaws!”
Some of your comments have led me to picture you as Homer Simpson-esque.
Once again, Miata is always the answer!
Now that’s a neighbourhood after my own heart. Well, provided they don’t have a problem with my medicinal plants.
Totally; the first gen HR-V is related to the Fit, but IIRC the current one is more Civic? Still, both are a bit large compared to the guy’s Kia Rio, IMO
Respectfully, all of these suggestions are still massive vehicles.
A 1978 Honda Civic? Worked for Hightower, with mods
Live like there is no tomorrow! It’s so fucking underappreciated. Well, okay, it’s pretty weird looking, and nobody should mention reliability, and should avoid DDCT, but it’s surprisingly useful and surprisingly good to drive, especially with manual. Someday, it will be so fucking cool (someday, when hell freezes…
