Brings up an extremely difficult question that I don’t think any parent could honestly answer without being in the situation: at what point do press charges against your own child and leave them to the justice system? 

Correct but leaving the ammunition (being the keys) on the table while you are out of town is probably not something you want to do for your kid when you know hes had a history.

You aren’t going to get a more compliant ride (and rally vibe) by lowering the car. Again, enjoy, but just wanted to share my thoughts.

You can only be different and quirky for so long. And if you aren’t putting in the hard work behind the scenes, your products will eventually fall out of favor. And if you make everything about you, and you happen to be repellent, that’s not going to help either.

I think (but I’m not a lawyer) that is her out here. It was an abusive relationship. Is that ultimately her fault, maybe. But the story above doesn’t seem to paint a picture of her as a terrible person.

We think alike, if the thing runs and doesn't break down that's great for 16k. The bad reviews from what I've read are mostly tech stuff not reliability

Seems like the kid’s mom should have put some hard and fast limitations on her criminal son, so I’m pretty O.K. with the precedent getting stretched here.  It would have taken the huge step of, oh I don’t know, NOT leaving the keys to the Bimmer sitting on the kitchen counter when she left town.  Not much to ask when…

Sounds to me like this mom was afraid of her own child. She did things to placate him and avoid violence, much like an abusive spouse.
