As a rotund guy that has worked for a series of companies with crappy travel policies (basically C-suite fly private jet, non-C-suite fly coach cheapest ticket available), I would rather take the chance of being first into the mountain, rather than the certainty of someone reducing the toilet to a smoking ruin in the

In completely unrelated news, cruise ship passengers were around 12% higher in 2024 than 2023 and were significantly higher than pre-covid rates even.

Pulled off a beach in India by a dude in a oxen driven kart? All I can say is...

I’m shocked they aren’t carbon fiber.   Seems to me that for that money, they could be and be a lot lighter.

I suspect that sooner or later, major Trump supporters will start to realize he’s a snake oil salesman, not the second coming.

My son’s 99 Corolla. I don’t think it’s had an oil change since 2010, the oil light has been on for at least 8 years and my son drives it like he’s trying to break the track record.

I think we have come to agreement, but with a twist. I would call it

I don’t think we have starved the government in America. The problem is our government is massively inefficient.

Dumb question. US cities have a ton of sprawl. I grew up in DC and there are people that commute from 50+ miles away every day there and that’s not uncommon for US cities.

If you look at cities with seriously high population densities, you see this

A LOT of “radiation sickness” is actually poisoning. Most radioactive elements are heavy metals. Just like Arsenic, Lead, and the like, heavy metals are almost always nasty to humans and animals.  If you look back at the Atomic Bombings in Japan, the victims breathed in a LOT of heavy metals and drank water that was

There’s radiation and there is contaimination

3rd gear: Someone that knows morse code should be watching they eyes of the happy employees that have had their feelings hurt for being described as slaves.

I’ll tell you someone that would do well when coming out of a bunker. This woman

Here’s the rub. I don’t know if they CAN put away years of food. I saw a thing (Smarter Every Day?) where it showed how subs are before they go out to sea. Every available corner is packed the gills with food of every type for a couple month cruise. Food takes up a LOT of space.

The big thing that I’ve learned is contentment. Life never turns out the way you hope and plan. Sometimes it turns out better. I was extremely single for years. Unpopular in high school, too scared of rejection to enter a relationship in college, and a hermit out of college that played video games and drove a slow car

If we have had a major nuclear war and any city bigger than Athens (whichever state you pick) is a crater, FEMA won’t be able to handle the load. Especially without direction and funding from DC, which would likely to have been hit multiple times.

I work in the nuclear power industry. I’ve had training on radiation effects and dangers.

This isn’t an uncommon thing.  I rented from someone (may have been Hertz) and got an e-mail telling me that I could buy my rental car about 10 minutes before I turned it in.  I’ve gotten e-mail from enterprise, Hertz and Avis asking about if I was interested in buying a used car from them.  It’s been a hard pass each

I’ve been forced to do slow car fast my entire life. Right out of college, I didn’t have a great paying job, drove crap cans, and double or triple paid the college loan to pay it off quickly. 5 years after college, I had paid off the college loan, got a decent car (used 240 SX) that was still “slow car fast” but
