In a lot of ways our Western forgiving ‘turn the other cheek’ nature is part of reason these things happen. The fact that Halo has slow health regen that leads to very extended periods of time counting as assists, plus lots a lots of chip damage from grenades or people using weapons at ranges they aren’t designed for, are probably primary factors for counting it as 1/3 (other games count it as 1/2).

I dunno, I’d prefer the “all assists count as kills” approach (or, alternatively, the “total damage” approach). This one seems a little arbitrary. Why specifically 1/3?
