So what I’ve really taken away from reading this article and its comments is that I can comfortably place Castlevania fans alongside Rick and Morty fans and Star Wars “purists”.

I think the argument here isn’t about how it’s wrong to critique a writer, it’s how unfortunately and resolutely you’ve misjudged the writer’s intent, and just as resolutely blamed that misjudgment on the writer instead of the possibility of an accidental miscomprehension.

Allow me to elevate the rhetoric: the way you hold examples of the artform up as sacred totems, and your inability to accept any fair criticism of those totems paints you as emotionally fragile, and makes it clear that you are using those totems as a substitute for an actual identity or personality.  

You can tell gamer culture is infested with emotionally fragile man-children based on how poorly they react to fair criticism of their sacred totems.

Fair review, the game definitely isn’t innovating, but I really enjoyed it and the expansiveness of the game and systems should make for some great replayability.
